Kathie's Notes

December 2008

THE FIRST NOEL the Chancel Choir will sing will be on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 at The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. The annual Holiday Brass concert is a benefit for the International Women’s Brass Conference and tickets are required. Sally Tarr will be conducting one of the choral pieces and I will be the organist for the event.

IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS… Come to the Hanging of the Greens and hear our littlest singers, the Cherubs and Trebles, welcome the season! Dec. 6th - decorating and activities at 4:00; dedication and music at 6:00.

HARK! HOW THE BELLS…The Tower Chimes Handbell Choir will present music of the season in our sanctuary on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 7:30. Their Christmas program is fun and has a few surprises thrown in. There will be lots of percussion and one very special guest artist! This concert is free. The bell choir will also play at Springwell Retirement Center (formerly The Wesley) on Dec. 15th at 7:00 PM, and will accompany several anthems throughout the Advent season.

O COME, LITTLE CHILDREN…On Sunday, Dec. 14 at the 8:30 service the Carol Choir – all 9 of them (I hope) will sing about the coming of the Christ-Child. This group is little, but they’re mighty, and we’re having a great time preparing our music!

HE IS BORN is the title of the cantata the Alleluia Singers are preparing. Mostly music, with some narration and drama, the Singers will present this Christmas story at both services on Sunday, Dec. 21st and again at Edenwald that same afternoon at 3:00.

O COME, ALL YE FAITHFUL to the Christmas Eve services. At 5:00 the Carol Choir will sing; at 8:00 Celebration Ringers will ring and Alleluia Singers will, uh, sing! Our annual Christmas Eve concert will begin at
10:30 PM and the candlelight service begins at 11:00.

JOY TO THE WORLD! Sunday, Dec. 28th at 10:00 AM we will join together in a service of lessons and carols.

My very best wishes to you and yours for a blessed Christmas.
