Why Be a Church Member? One can worship and study and participate in all church programs without ever “joining an organization.” So, why be a member? The best reason is because membership is our way of making a covenant with other Christians to join together in a concerted effort to proclaim and live in Christ. It is part of a “we are in this faith thing together” mentality. Membership also allows us to serve on all of the decision-making boards so that our voice can be added to others. It allows us to be part of setting a direction and determining a future. Membership allows you to VOTE at congregational meetings when big decisions need to be decided. You may be a FULL MEMBER or an ASSOCIATE MEMBER. An Associate Member is someone who wishes to remain a full member at another church, it may be in your home town or it could be another denomination, AND actively participate at the church where you currently live.
